2020 has been the year of Kindness. So much has been thrown at us but through it all we’ve found the simple acts of kindness are what matter most. #kindnessmatters has become part of our daily vocabulary and not just hashtags but community service, caring for friends and family, taking time out to check in and random acts of kindness. At A Lust for Life, we’ve been promoting soundness and Mental Health Awareness week in May was to the theme of kindness.
One act of kindness has become quite visual; a community effort to spread joy and kindness. All across Irish towns and villages, communities are getting involved in the ‘kindness rocks’ initiative which sees people painting colourful rocks and placing them for people to find. The idea is that someone finds it in a place and moves it to another place for someone else to find.
These once bland, grey, unnoticeable every day parts of the world have become things of joy. A treasure hunt of kindness to brighten up days. These rocks can be found anywhere; in a park, on a street, on a beach; people have been getting very creative with where they place their rocks and how they colour them.
We have put together a selection of some of our favourites from the Mullingar Rocks and Ireland Rocks Facebook pages but please send us any rocks you find in your community and we’ll add them to our gallery.

Support Our Campaign
We rely on the generosity of the public to fund our work and so far together we have achieved great things! Please do continue to support us so we can provide future generations in Ireland with the resources to recognise and talk about their emotions, and equip them to navigate the ever-changing world around them as they grow
