What to limit if you have anxiety

1. Alcohol

3. Processed food

The chemicals present in processed food can affect the chemicals required for adequate brain function. Food high in sugar can also cause blood sugar spikes which can also have a negative impact on mood. Find out more

4. Toxic People/Environments

We all know what I am talking about here. Rooms full of people bitching and giving out about everything. This has a detrimental effect on our mental health by releasing the stress hormone, cortisol. Watching television, or taking in any form of media that is toxic and negative can also effect mood. Surround yourself with people that make you feel grateful and positive, as often as it possible. 5. Late nights

Sleep is key for people with mental health issues. It can be difficult as sometimes sleep can be tough to get when stressed or depressed. Insomnia can be a side-effect of mental health illness, but it is so important to try to get into a pattern of healthy sleep as it’s vital for healthy brain function. Try to go to bed and get up and the same time each day where possible. Also DO NOT sleep with your phone charging beside your bed.

This can’t be emphasised enough. At night go on airplane mode, leave your phone downstairs and sleep with no electronics in your room. Life is stressful enough, night-time is for sleep. Find out more
