A Lust for Life book club: Readers recommendation – Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferriss

Thanks to all of you who participated in the A Lust for Life book club so far!

We asked you what kind of format might work best for us to host an online book club, and as per your feedback, we’re going to bring you a series of reader’s recommendations every couple weeks.

If you have read the book already, or if you decide to bring it on your holidays, please do share your own thoughts with us using the hashtag #ALFLbookclub.

And if you have a book you’d like to recommend to our readers, please send a short review and a little about the impact the book had on your own life, mental health and wellbeing, to editor@alustforlife.com – we’d love to hear from you.

Hi all,

Having read far and wide searching for actionable tools and techniques for both myself and my clients, I highly, highly, highly recommend this book by Tim Ferriss.

Review:

Tribe of mentors is a compilation of tools, tactics, and habits from over 130 of the world’s leading performers in fields such as mental health, sport, business, and spirituality. Through short, mind-blowing profiles, Tim Ferriss shares his interviewee’s secrets of happiness, success, and meaning. No matter what challenges you are experiencing in your life today, something in the pages of this book will help. Another great aspect of the book is that you can just skip the people who don’t vibe with you, which for me was surprisingly few.

I particularly recommend: Steven Pressfield (pg. 5), Terry Cruise (pg. 19), Debbie Millman (pg. 24), Jerzy Gregorek (pg. 113), Arianna Huffington (pg. 211), Brene Brown (pg. 232), Ray Dalio (pg. 321), Mark Benioff (pg. 445) and most of all, the last one in the book Yuval Noah Harari (pg. 554).

The impact this book had on my life:

I personally use many of the tools from this book on a regular basis, and have implemented many of them into a self-development program I designed for my clients.

This book has had such an impact on me that I decided to replicate Tim’s actions on an Irish scale. Over the last 7 months I have reached out to over 80 of Irelands most successful people. This endeavour has gone so well that I will be writing a similar book from an Irish perspective. Only this morning (as I write this review) I got an email off Sonia O’Sullivan who has agreed to meet me for an interview. This is also why I reached out to Bressie, and as a result we are both writing a book about mindfulness together. I cannot underestimate the impact that this book has had on my life. Just to be clear however, you must put the tools you read about to action in order to reap the benefits.

P.S. There is also a great Podcast based on the book “Tim Ferriss: Tribe of Mentors”

I hope you guys enjoy the book as much as I did.

Best wishes,
Brian
