A Lust for Life’s recent podcast series, Where There’s A Will, has engaged with leaders in mental health and people who have been through the mental health system to develop a deep understanding of what needs to change in our mental health system – and how.
The series will form the basis for an ongoing long-term movement to drive a new form of solution-focused public debate and negotiation to drive meaningful change.
This live panel discussion event is the culmination of this podcast series – the final, bonus episode. This event will be an interactive dialogue on the mental health system in Ireland facilitated by A Lust for Life – tackling stigma, shame, and structural problems in the Irish Mental Health system.
The event is a live podcast panel discussion on the themes arising from the podcast series, Where There’s A Will. Our Chair, co-host of the podcast, Paula McLoughlin, will raise six key themes from the podcast, and will facilitate a discussion among panellists about how to address each of these themes and bring it to the next level.
The event will also feature live music from Lee O’Brien and the Winterkings.
Panellists will include:
- Niall Breslin, Co-Founder, A Lust for Life
- Dr Eddie Murphy, Clinical Psychologist
- Niall Muldoon, Ombudsman for Children
- Dr Miriam Kennedy, Irish College of Psychiatrists
- Shari McDaid, Mental Health Reform
- Emilia Marchelewska, Cairde
On the evening, there will be an outdoor exhibition from 6:30pm in Woodquay Amphitheatre titled IF.
IF is an installation created by Scottish artist Angela Lloyd in memory of a young, close friend who tragically took his life following a long period of struggling with mental illness.
We’d invite everyone attending Where There’s A Will: Live to come along a little earlier to view and participate in this exhibition.
“Better is possible. It does not take genius. It takes diligence. It takes moral clarity. It takes ingenuity. And above all, it takes a willingness to try.” –
